You can create your pre-order game account now through the PlayNC website. Although you cannot log into City of Villains immediately, you will be eligible to join the beta test before launch and will be able to activate your subscription with ease once the game has been released. As an added bonus, you will receive an exclusive in-game item (the in-game item will vary based on which retailer you purchased your City of Villains pre-order copy from). You will also get a two-day head-start entry into the full game before those who have not pre-ordered!

If you have an existing City of Heroes® account you will want to be sure to follow the instructions for upgrading your existing account with your City of Villains pre-order serial code in order to ensure access to all City of Heroes and City of Villains features.

If you are new to City of Heroes and are planning to use the City of Heroes 14-Day FREE trial serial code (included in the City of Villains pre-order box), please be sure to follow those instructions.

Existing City of Heroes Account Holders

If you already have an existing City of Heroes account of any type (Beta, Pre-Order, Trial, Buddy, Retail or DVD ,) then please follow these instructions to upgrade your existing account. This is critical to ensure your access to all of the features that City of Heroes and City of Villains have to offer.

To Upgrade Your Existing City of Heroes Game Account:

  1. Go to PlayNC Account Management
  2. Log into your existing PlayNC® master account and select the Game Accounts link
  3. Locate your existing City of Heroes game account that you wish to upgrade and click it to go to the Game Account Details page
  4. Click the UPGRADE ACCOUNT link in the Actions box
  5. Enter your City of Villains pre-order serial code located on the CD sleeve and click the CONTINUE button

You will be contacted via e-mail when you have been granted access to the beta, so be sure to keep the e-mail address on your PlayNC master account current. On launch day, simply log into your PlayNC master account and use the ACTIVATE feature to have access to the final product.

New to City of Heroes/City of Villains

If you are new to City of Heroes/City of Villains and wish to take advantage of the included City of Heroes 14-Day FREE trial serial code (included in the City of Villains pre-order box), please follow the instructions from the City of Heroes 14-Day FREE Trial card to create your trial account first. Then follow the above instructions for upgrading your existing City of Heroes game account. NOTE: You will not be able to upgrade an existing City of Villains pre-order account with the City of Heroes 14-day free trial serial code.

In order to create your City of Villains pre-order account, you will need a PlayNC master account. If you have an existing PlayNC master account skip down to the instructions for adding your City of Villains pre-order game account only.

To Create a PlayNC Master Account and City of Villains Pre-Order Game Account Together:

  1. Go to the Create PlayNC Account page
  2. Follow all the directions provided until your PlayNC master account is successfully created
  3. Upon completion of your master account, click on the ADD GAMES TO YOUR PlayNC ACCOUNT now! link in the middle of the page
  4. Enter the serial code provided on your City of Villains pre-order CD sleeve and then hit the CONTINUE button
  5. Provide all requested information until you have successfully created a City of Villains pre-order game account!

To Add a City of Villains Pre-Order Game Account Only:

  1. Go to the Add Game page
  2. Enter information to log into your current PlayNC master account
  3. Enter the serial code provided on your City of Villains pre-order CD sleeve and then hit the CONTINUE button
  4. Provide all requested information until you have successfully created a City of Villains pre-order game account!
